How to match a used engine to your VIN (not just the model name)
A catalog photo is not a fitment guarantee. The emissions sticker and the 8th VIN character are what keep the wrong long block off your pallet.

Two Camrys from the same year can wear different engines. Two F-150s even more so. If you order by “2018 Ford truck” you will get a story, not a motor that bolts in.
Start with year, make, model — then go further
- The engine code on the under-hood emissions label.
- The 8th character of the VIN on many domestic applications.
- Federal vs California emissions, especially on trucks.
- 2WD vs 4WD, and whether the original had a wet or dry exhaust manifold layout.
- Automatic vs manual — bellhousing and electronics are not a guess.
What to put on the quote form
VIN if you have it. Engine code if you can read the sticker. Mileage you need, and whether the shop wants a long block or a dress-up complete. If you are not sure, call us. That is cheaper than a restock.
We do not ship an engine that fails that check. A listing photo is marketing. The application sheet is the product.
